Downtown Acton BIA

It's worth the drive!

It’s March in Acton’s Parkette

March 17th, 2020

Acton’s Parkette has changed once again to fall in line with the seasons, this time with a St.
Patrick’s Day look. Located at the corner of Mill and Main, Acton BIA volunteers made the change
over the weekend to keep the Parkette relevant and fun for those walking or driving by.

“We had a lot of success with our Valentine’s Theme” said Alex Hilson, Acton BIA Coordinator. “Angela Tyler, a local business owner, suggested it to Nancy Wilkes, one of our board members, and
Matthew Galliford, another of our directors, made it happen”.

Galliford made it happen again. This time, with face cut-outs for two leprechauns.

Celebrations During a Challenging Time

It took a number of weeks to put the display together—long before COVID-19 became a challenge.
“We’re in a very different situation locally than we were a month ago” continues Hilson. “We ask
those who feel unwell or who have been out of the country in the last fourteen days to not touch the
displays at this time”. Pictures can still be taken next to the cut-outs or through the face holes without
actually touching the wood.

Residents who take pictures with the cut-outs are encouraged to post their photos on social media
with the hashtags “#LoveDowntownActon” or “#ItsWorthTheDrive”.

“Displays like this show that our community is alive and active” finishes Hilson. “They remind
those going by that there are people working hard in our Downtown every single day”.
